I was born in 1935 and brought up in a Nottinghamshire mining village where, by tradition, it was expected that all boys "follow suit" and become coal miners.

During my "pit" days I remember the total blackness underground and the blinding contrast of colours upon surfacing. I am sure that these daily "colour shocks" influenced my paintings in later life.

Whilst creating a flower painting, I try to portray the vibrant colours and give it a three dimensional effect, seemingly to make the image "jump out" of the picture, just as I remembered during my mining days.

Most of my paintings are sold through my exhibitions or by commissions or via my website and many have been published as prints and greetings cards.
